CamStudio can also add higher-quality, anti-aliased (no jagged edges) screen captions to your recordings in seconds and with the distinctive Video Annotation feature you can even personalise your videos by including a webcam film of oneself "picture-in-picture" more than your desktop.
And if all that wasn't enough, CamStudio also comes with its own Lossless Codec that produces crystal clear benefits with a considerably smaller filesize compared with other much more popular codecs, like Microsoft Video 1.
You have total manage over the output of your video: you can decide on to use custom cursors, to record the entire screen or just a section of it and can decrease or improve the good quality of the recording depending on if you want smaller videos (for emailing to people, for instance) or you can have "ideal good quality" ones for burning onto CD/DVD.
But all of these characteristics would be worthless if CamStudio wasn't easy to use ... luckily that's not the case. CamStudio can be discovered in a matter of minutes and comes with a comprehensive built-in helpfile, so if you do handle to get stuck, you can merely hit "Aid" and get the answers you need.

You can download and use it fully free - yep - entirely 100% cost-free for your individual and commercial projects as CamStudio and the Codec are released beneath the GPL (for a lot more details on this license, click right here.)
There are no royalties or any monies to spend - despite the fact that if you do use it for a commercial product, I would not say no to a copy of whatever you produce

CamStudio's History in the planet
CamStudio was originally released by a organization referred to as RenderSoft who have been subsequently bought by a company named eHelp who employed some of the technology in their system, RoboDemo ...
Some time later, eHelp was bought by Macromedia who wanted RoboDemo (which was to turn into Captivate) ...
Knowing that CamStudio did some of the stuff RoboDemo did for free (mostly export to streaming Flash), they released a newer version which fixed some bugs but most importantly, removed particular functions. Gone was the capacity to generate SWFs, added was the requirement to register to use it, and more than time, hyperlinks to the a variety of webpages that had CamStudio and its supply code, became broken.
Nevertheless, I managed to find an earlier version total with the connected CamStudio video codec (comparable to Techsmith's superb TSCC), the supply code for both and just place the website up so people could download them ...
